“Potluck” Concert overview
July 31, 2010 - Villa Victoria - Mar del Plata – Argentina

This sound exposition was the reflect of a diversity of positions on the musical work.

From the intermediate position between the form and the sound material, between music (as organized discourse) and sound art (as abstract expression), until the simple sound gesture, without dialectical presumptions.

The program consisted of works from different generations and backgrounds: "D-cajón" (Schachter), "Construcción II" (Miraglia), "Topographia" (Simpson) and "Awakening" (Miyama), expressed their interest by temporal and dynamique form, using different kinds of gestures and materials. In "D-cajón", the genesis of sound is the instrument (peruvian cajon), whose rhythm and timbre presence is manifested throughout the play, in a permanent dialogue with the technology in real time. The image was transformed gradually to become a third performer. "Construcción II" presents an electro acoustic spirit –derived of an analogical heritage- where the global sensation, produced by a dense sound mass, is more important that the pointillist virtuosity of digital age represented by the pieces of Simpson and Miyama.

“El sonido eléctrico cotidiano, inmerso en el ambiente mismo de la sala de concierto” (Barabino), "Replay" (Giuliani) and "L'Aleph" (Vieyra), were oriented towards a search within the audio material. In this group there are two tendencies : Barabino and Giuliani focus their exposition to an introvert and purist sound flow, almost physiological ; while Vieyra can not escape the fascination of a very dynamic material, leaving it to flow freely in their own space and its own limitations. Within this exploratory context, the "Tres piezas para acordeón" by A.Kasulin, appear as a splash of fresh water.   She also looks for new sonorities, although limited by the possibilities of the instrument that link the past with nostalgia. With a spirit without presumptions, the composer titled these pieces "simple", leaving the listener the freedom of simple aesthetic enjoyment. In "rundetaarn_06" Haro shows his impressions by means of the audiovisual register of a personal experience. In this way he invites the public a daily experience, through a form of perception more sensorial than dialectic.
